Caltech's print type palette is made up of primary and secondary fonts, as well as acceptable alternatives.

Primary Font

Helvetica Neue is the primary typeface for print communications. Its wide range of weights, ranging from light, medium, italic, bold, super bold, to condensed and extended, provides the versatility and flexibility necessary for diverse design needs.

Helvetica Neue is free to use, unless your project requires a broader spectrum of the font style. To purchase and obtain a license for our primary font, please visit

Secondary Font

Adobe Caslon Pro is our secondary typeface, suited for more formal applications, body text, and print publications.

To obtain licenses for the approved Adobe Caslon Pro typefaces, please visit

Purchasing of the typefaces is optional, and alternative typefaces are available for use.
