Caltech's print type palette is made up of two primary fonts, as well as acceptable alternatives.
- Helvetica Neue is the primary san serif typeface for print communications. Its wide range of weights, ranging from light, medium, italic, bold, super bold, to condensed and extended, provides the versatility and flexibility necessary for diverse design needs. Helvetica Neue is a system font on most Apple computers. For a license to the basic font family, please go to Myfonts.com.
- Adobe Caslon Pro is the primary serif typeface, suited for more formal applications, body text, and print publications. If you have an active Adobe subscription, the typeface can be downloaded on Adobe Fonts. To purchase licenses for the typeface, please visit Myfonts.com.
For business communications, when our primary and secondary typefaces are not available for use in print, please use these alternatives:
- In place of Helvetica Neue, use Arial.
- In place of Adobe Caslon Pro, use Georgia.
